Blitz

The facade of the Blitz house with the BLS building visible rear left.

Blitz is a youth center for the not so traditional Norwegian culture, such as punk rock, anti-fascist resistance, graffiti, and street riots. However, they serve excellent traditional Norwegian waffles, and they like to quote the Russian anarchist Peter Kropotkin who once wrote to Lenin:

- Vladimir Ilyich, your concrete actions are completely unworthy of the waffles you pretend to make!

2002

Oslo Open in 2002 gathered no less than 77 participants, scoring an all-time high for a NBA table hockey tournament in Norway.

Lie

Tore Lie, Oslo Open winner in 1995, '97, '99 and 2001:

For a Norwegian player like me, Oslo Open in recent years has been a great opportunity to take part in a top-level international table hockey tournament at home. Oslo Open is one of the few tournaments (along with SM and WCh) that really puts me in the groove as I wait for the gig to start and gaze out over Norwegians, Swedes, Czechs, Finns, Russians, Germans, Latvians and Bergensians. I really look forward to the next Oslo Open!

Wallen

Daniel Wallén, Oslo Open winner in 2002 and '03:

Oslo Open in 2002 was my first international tournament in four years and I had to fight hard from start to finish. Actually it was tough just to show up in Oslo: we had a near traffic accident when driving through the Swedish woods to get there. I really enjoy the high spirits at Norwegian table hockey tournaments, and thanks to the fact that Oslo Open that year was such a fun experience, I decided to continue playing and went on to win the WCh later that season.

Bengtsson

Petter Bengtsson, Oslo Open winner in 2004:

Winning Oslo Open in 2004 was a breakthrough for me. Having been playing for 20 years or so this was my first (and much longed for) major tournament victory. To win it in Norway of all places just added to the pleasure. As we all know, prominent features of Norwegian table hockey are the fluid and skillful offensive game they play, the good sportsmanship and the splendid tournament organization. I take for granted that Oslo Open in 2006 will be yet another interesting event!

Bengtsson

Stefan Edwall, Oslo Open winner in 2006 (February):

Oslo Open is good organization and lots of fun. It's always a pleasure to meet Norwegians players: they play positive, offensive table hockey, just the way I like it. Winning the last Oslo Open gave me new confidence after having lost the SM final to Alexey Zaharov, and it also laid ground for my overall win of the WTHT in 2005/06. I also liked the tightly kept tournament schedule (in spite that my train from Sweden was delayed and everybody had to wait for me). I'll be back!

The Sinna Tag

The Oslo Open logo is a graphical remake of the popular sculpture "Sinnataggen", which portrays a very angry little fat boy stamping his foot in fury. For some odd reason, this kitschy little piece is a main tourist attraction in the Vigeland Sculpture Park in Oslo.
